All of my fellow students and even my Spanish teacher says that I am crazy for taking 5 AP classes. I believe I can handle it and honestly have no desire to take electives like art, yearbook, school newspaper, or nutrition.

My schedule for Junior year is:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus AB
AP English Language
APUSH
Spanish 3

Some alternates I could do are AP Statistics, AP Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology, or Physics. As far as the teachers go, the AP English Language one never gives homework. All the other teachers should be very rigorous though. Also for AP Chemistry the teacher said that you can get an "A" grade if you just pass the AP exam.

I took similar courses junior year. I’ll let you know what I thought of the courses for reference, but teachers are different and only you can totally determine what you can handle.

AP Biology: Moderate. A lot of memorizing systems, etc.
AP Chemistry: Somewhat challenging. It was difficult to prepare for the exam given the change in curriculum this year.
AP Calc BC: Moderate. I found the Calc AB portion easy
AP Lang: Easy, if you have good reading skills and moderate writing skills.
I took ap gov junior, but took APUSH sophmore year. APUSH was my hardest AP class. There is a lot of material to cover.

I think you will be okay. I am taking 7 (technically, 8) APs this year, and it really comes down to whether or not you are motivated/determined enough to handle the rigor. “All of [your] fellow students” may say that you are “crazy”, but their priorities may be different than yours. Just know that you probably will not have very much free time, and your social life may be lessened some weekends because of homework, projects, et cetera, but if you thrive under the challenge, go for it! You teacher is probably saying that because most “typical” high schoolers are more into social activities than academics, and would not be able to handle that much challenging coursework (no offense, typical high schoolers :o).

The only thing I would consider is if your classes are good preparation for your intended major. What are you planning on majoring in? You have 2 AP sciences, and this might be useful if you plan on going into something STEM-related, but if you’re planning on taking the liberal arts/humanities route, for example, maybe consider taking something related to that, instead of doubling up on science.

@pinkpurple99 APUSH, AP Bio, and AP Chem are going to take alot out of you. I would advise taking one of those senior year (I took APUSH and Chem junior year and decided to take Bio my senior) and switch it out for AP Pysch (that’s what I did) or AP Stats.

But science you want to be a science major switch out one of the AP science classes with either Anatomy (I wish I had this class last year but they put a bunch of people who don’t even want to go to medical school in it aarrgh) or physics
