I often read that it is necessary for job seekers to have an active LinkedIn profile. While probably good advice, I know many with sought after skills who have switched employers without any presence on LinkedIn. In fact, the individuals whom I know became the subject of bidding wars by employers. Of course, this is occurring in a strong economy for those with sought-after skills and experience.
