5 day Boarding School

I am thinking of applying to the Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh,Pa for the 2011/12 year
it only has a 5-day boarding program and I dont even live in the country
However, I have family friends in nearby Zelienople,PA
do you think Shady Side would let me attend and I could stay with my friends or is it too risky(in case they are away etc.)?

Would your friends let you stay with them every weekend? That’s quite a bit to ask…

“Students come from 80 different zip codes, seven counties, and Ohio”

The name of the place sounds a little weird, “Shady Side”. haha

That’s what I was thinking hopeful xD !

yes they would let me stay with them
and yes shady side sounds pretty dodgy but it is quite an affluent area in Pittsburgh
As for EVERY weekend well I could probably stay with the friends that I would make
The question is would the school even allow me to attend or is it too risky?
Does anyone know any 7day boarding schools near Pittsburgh

Shady Side Academy is a wonderful school. Academically it is one of the strongest school in Pittsburgh and has a beautiful campus and great facilities! They are seriously considering moving to 7 day boarding in the near future. The new Headmaster was previously at Lawrenceville. Even though it is a K-12 school they have 3 very separate campuses. The Senior school is just high school age students. I would call the admission office and ask questions. They want to expand their boarding population.

Other boarding schools near Pittsburgh: Kiski is about 45 minutes. Western Reserve is in Ohio.

thanks so much chelsea
does anyone know the average SAT score for Shady and Kiski?

The average SAT score for Shady Side Academy students is more than 400 points above the national average, with 67% of students scoring over 1800.

@chelsea1
