I want to apply to the University of Pittsburgh but there's a part on the application that asks which order of preference I have for the different branches of the schools in the different cities--Bradford, Titusville, Greensburg, Johnstown, Pittsburgh, etc. I know that Pittsburgh main campus is my first choice, but I'm not sure about the others... can anyone tell me any characteristics, specialties, what schools are good in what--i.e. the flavors of the 5 different schools?

I would've gone to visit them, but I live in the south and I couldn't drive all the way up...

if i were you, i'd just put "1" in the oakland campus box, and leave the rest blank (that's what i did... an admissions counselor at pitt told me that that is perfectly fine to do).

I don't think it gives you any edge to mark only the main campus. I know people who liked attending the Johnstown campus. OTOH, if you have absolutely no interest in attending anywhere but Oakland, just put Oakland.

yeah it doesn't give you an edge, they won't prefer an applicant over another just because of a grid. Its in the order of most wanted to least. Even if you don't get into Oakland, you won't be... rejected :P

My D just put Oakland when she applied last year just because she didn't want to go to one of the branches. If she didn't make it in to the main campus she had other college options she would take instead. It all came down to when you applied (early) and GPA/test scores.
