5 on AP Physics C Mechanics; skip physics 1?

I am attending UCF this fall with a major in Photonic Science and Engineering. I got a 5 on AP Physics B and a 5 on AP Physics C Mechanics, but a 4 on E&M. Would it be a bad idea to skip over physics for engineers 1 and go straight to Physics 2? I felt very comfortable with mechanics in high school and photonics doesn't seem like a major that relies very heavily on mechanics. What do you think?

According to many people on other forums, its about 50/50. I might be in a similar position next year. A very good source told me that if I can get into honors physics 1 and 2, then yes, definitely take it, otherwise if I feel i completely mastered the material and I am comfortable with it, then go ahead and skip. But beware, if you are not at all sure if you completely know everything there is to know, it may come back to haunt you later on. Plus its an easy A. I do not know too much about your major, but the advice I just gave, I would definitely give to a physics major.

Honestly, skip it. You really won’t need much from Mechanics to go into E&M. It will be a waste of time, credits, and new learning.
