How do you get a 5 on it? What percentage do you have to get on MC to get a 4 or a 5? What score do you have to get on DBQ and essays to get a 5? What percentage is DBQ a part of the score? I am really worried about DBQ and that I might get a low score on it. I predict that I will get a 5 on MC, 4 on both essays and maybe 2-3 on DBQ. What will it get me? 3 or 4?

please don't be scared to answer my questions

bumpy bump bump

maybe a 3.......

First rule of fight club is you do not talk about the AP United States history exam

"I predict that I will get a 5 on MC, 4 on both essays and maybe 2-3 on DBQ. What will it get me? 3 or 4?"

I am confused. By those scores, do you mean like an equivalent AP Score for those? I assume that's what you mean b/c of the 5 on MC.

Generally I would saw you need to get around 50-60 on the MC & 6-7 on your essays. The DBQ is worth almost as much as the other 2 essays.

My son got a 55 out of 80 on the MC practice test yesterday. He said that was a 68% and would possibly be a 4..

sweetkidsmom, a 55 on the multiple choice would give 25 wrong. 6 points would be subtracted, giving a score of 49. Multiply this by 1.125 to get his MC raw score, which is ~55.

Last year to get a 5 the raw score to get a 5 was ~115. If he writes a 6 on the DBQ & 2 FRQs, he should get a 5.

I had a pretty good teacher, but about 6 or 7 of us got 5's (out of about 60 kids). just study key vocab, know when to apply them, uh cause and effect is important. treaties, foreign entanglement. it's all about detail, and knowing when to use it for the essay. I didn't find last years MC too hard, and the essays were pretty straightforward (all in my opinion, like i said our teacher was great). For the DBQ, first look at the question, and write down everything you think that pertains to the era/theme/whatever. Write specifics. Then start looking at the documents, and see if they match up any of your "pre-thinking".

Im just wondering, do most schools have a kid like this:

the guy i sit next to in APUSH got 67 on the MC BEFORE we took the class. On the last two practice tests, he hsa gotten 76 (75 adjusted).

CRAZZZZZY

wow...there's a kid in my class who gets about ~68...after the class but w/o studying.

most of us "top" kids get around 60 (w/ some studying) :)

its MC (80) + DBQ (9 x 4.5) + FRQs (2 x 2.75 x 9)..
so basically...
like i just realized a week ago, the whole test is Free response.

Can anyone here comment on the difficulty of the Princeton Review' APUSH practice tests compare to the ones colleeboard administers yearly?

I just completed the multiple choice part of one test so I know I could finish 80 questions in 55 minutes. I finished the first 70 in 25 minutes, and scored, after adjustments, a 67/80, which puts me in range for a solid 5.

joshjmgs, I'm not sure if PR is harder but I promise it's not easier. I wouldn't be too worried w/ that score.

I guessed on 12 MC last year, but my essays were mega pimp (4 pages DBQ, 3 each on FR - anyone who took the test last year knows the FR questions were wicked easy). And I got a 5. If you are a little above avg on MC (I was getting 53-58 correct on practice tests) then you'll need really good essays to get a 5. It can be done, as I did it.

Am i screwed if i am getting low-mid 50s on the REA practice tests?

this is something my APUSH teacher gave me. it's based on 2001 APUSH scores.
MC score: % that got a 1, % that got 2, % that got a 3, and so on
57-80: 0, 0, .5, 29.8, 69.7
45-56: 0, .7, 24.2, 62.9, 12.2
34-44: 0, 2.8, 59.8, 17.1, .3
15-33: 7.1, 80.8, 11.8, .4
0-14: 80.6, 19.4, 0, 0, 0

Gr. 2001 2002
5 114 to 180 115 to 180
4 92 to 113 94 to 114
3 74 to 91 76 to 93
2 42 to 73 46 to 75
1 0 to 41 0 to 45

I took the AP US history test last year. My teacher was awful and taught us absolutely nothing- we were forced to read the book cover to cover by ourselves. I didn't think I would even manage a 3, because I completely bombed my practice multiple choice. I lucked out, however, because the DBQ was on the topic I chose for National History Day (French and Indian War). I was shocked to see I got a 5. Don't worry too much- I crammed the night before by reading my review book cover to cover, and I don't think it helped at all. Remember to omit those that you have absolutely no clue about.

I think APUSH puts more emphasis on the MC questions from what I've heard, compared to AP World and AP Euro.
