Hi Everyone,

I'm currently a sophomore UD student interested in applying for Kelley for a degree in marketing. I initially was a biochemistry major my first two semesters of college and then a psychology major this semester. After consulting with a career counselor, an internship, several career tests, and some thought, I've decided that a marketing major would be most suited to my personality and my future career goals. Unfortunately, it seems like it's going to be an uphill battle. My situation:

-3.47 GPA in a lot of random classes (science, liberal arts)
-5 W's (which I can try to explain)
-a lot of extracurricular activities, though none related to business, mostly science and social work

This semester I am taking Italian 150, Behavioral Neuroscience, Human Sexuality, and a literature class. Next semester I am taking all classes for Kelley admissions:

A100 Intro to Accounting
Finite Math
E201 Intro to Microeconomics
K201 Computer in Business
C104 Business Presentations

I should be eligible to apply after next semester because of high school credits for W131 and E202.

I looked at the Kelley application and there's an essay question that allows students to explain any challenges they faced in college. The reason for 3 of my W's (they've been throughout college, not just in freshman year) is because freshman year I became ill and was hospitalized. I'm now registered with the disabilities office because of said medical problems and am managing it a lot better (bipolar disorder). I don't anticipate it will affect my life too significantly in the future. HOWEVER, I am very hesitant to mention this specifically on my application because there are a lot of negative connotations and misconceptions in association with bipolar and I'm afraid that the stigma might work against my favor. Also, it might even been useless to explain at all since it seems like the general consensus is that W's are a kiss of death for Kelley admissions.

Any advice or comments? Can anybody think of any good alternatives to Kelley? I thought about transferring to IUPUI if I don't get in. Another option might be SPEA.

Thank you for reading through this thread! :)
