Hello-
I am looking for schools with a certain Joint-Degree program. The University of Denver (currently my #1) has a program where you can get any BA or BS, and begin working on your MBA or MSF dring your junior year, as to graduate with both degrees in just 5 years. I really like this program, and am looking for similar programs around the country. Do you guys know of any?

I don’t know whether you would want to get an MBA from a 5 year program, cause that might stop you from getting an mba from a top program later. MSF maybe, but mba probably not.

The better MBA programs expect a bare minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience after graduating from college. They prefer more than that.

Having an MBA with no experience is going to make it hard for you to find a job. It’s also going to mean you won’t get nearly as much out of the MBA experience as you would if you had some professional experience under your belt.

I understand the disadvantages of gettin the MBA at that point in time. Is am just exploring possibilities and opportunities. Thankyou for the input, any more is greatly appreciated.

I don’t see the value in getting an MBA immediately after undergrad. Employers will still treat you as someone with zero work experience and you will eliminate any chance of getting an MBA from a top school later in your career. Consider that even Harvard requires its students in its 2+2 program to work for two years before attending HBS.

To become a CPA you are now required to have 150 credit hours so many accounting students are now using that fifth year to pick up a MS or MBA along with the necessary credits. Granted it is not as valuable as working for a while and then going back, but if you have to take the extra year, you might as well have a degree to show for it.

Depending on your employer, and the MBA program that you end up enrolling in, you may be able to get your employer to pay for some (if not all) of the cost of that MBA. There are many MBA programs now that are on-line, or part-time (e.g. one long weekend on campus each month, or one week on campus every two or three months), etc. When you are really ready for that MBA you will have many good options.

A ton of schools do offer 5 year MS or MBA programs. You just need google to start researching ones that meet your financial/academic/location parameters.

hey guys I might be interested in doing a 5 year ba/mba program as well. I’ve been reading responses such as that the mba will be mostly useless without work experience along with it but do you that work experience could be covered through summer internships? Maybe internships while in school too? Or does ‘work experience’ only qualify as legit full time work?

My other question is I am a current sophomore at a cc in California looking to transfer after next year as a junior. Do you guys know if transfers are allowed to join a 5 year ba/mba program? Or do you have to start that at freshman year and transfers are not allowed in? Two schools I may apply to that I know offer it are Vanderbilt and Wustl. Please let me know!
