<p>Did anybody do the 5 year coop program in Engineering? How did you like it? What percent of VT Engineering students are doing this?</p>
<p>I also have a question about the coop program at VT: How difficult is it to obtain a coop (GPA, year standing, etc)? Are they really competitive to get?</p>

<p>There isn’t really a ‘5 year coop program’ like there is at other schools (Cincy, from what I understand) but plenty of students get one. It really depends on your major and where you’re at skills wise. I took a 6 month one for a software development job after my second semester, but I had a strong software background and built a good relationship with a recruiter at the engineering expos.</p>
<p>Outside of EE/CpE/CS, it’s probably tougher to get a co-op until late sophomore year or junior year. I know guys who’ve gotten them, though.</p>
<p>Your best bet is probably to talk to career services since they keep all kinds of data on the program.</p>
