Hey, I'm interested in going to school for the 5 years master's in architecture. The two I have looked at most are Tulane and Kansas. The master's seems like the best route to go because it would knock off some future schooling. Does anyone know which of the two programs are better? or if there are other good five year master's programs.

Pull the two 5-year plans of study and see which one is closer to your interests - check national rankings and the like as well and also find out how many people do finish an MArch in 5 years (and live to tell about it :-)).

Personally, after all my years in Louisiana, I’d go for Tulane, the environment there is quite different; Kansas is well ranked and so on, and probably cheaper. But 5 years in New Orleans is a treat in itself regardless of major :-)

I visited Tulane a couple of years ago with my sons as part of their college visits, and went recruiting at KU this year. Both schools have good reputations, though I have not seen a lot of recent Tulane student work.

The students coming out of KU are very impressive; very thoughtful and well prepared to enter practice. They begin working in Revit (the core professional software) from their freshman year. In a year in which we visited six schools and could have had almost any graduate, we ended up hiring a KU graduate as one of our two new hires.

As Turbo mentions there are significant differences in the schools. Do you want a small private school in an old New Orleans neighborhood, or do you want a big state school on a hilltop in Lawrence, Kansas? These two schools are going to provide very different college life experiences. I think a visit to the campuses would help you decide very quickly.
