50% decrease?

There were 50 students admitted this year to stanford, almost a 50 percent decrease from last year. does anyone have any clues as to why the acceptance rate was halved? is this a continuing (and extremely disturbing) trend?

then i is in trouble.

this might be extremely irrelevant to your question, but it's about Stanford anyway.

Stanford's international admission decisions this year is extremely confusing...while most elite American colleges take about at most about 10 students from a country...Stanford has accepted more than 15 applicants from China mainland while giving them some very generous financial packages. This simply has never happened before to China mainland or any other country...even more interesting, many of those kids end up only admitted by Stanford--turned down by all the other colleges.

So what is going in Palo Alto this year?
