For current UCF students, have you heard how the $52 million in budget cuts will be made up? This article states that tuition will increase 15% but that won't make up all of the cuts. And of that 15%, 30% goes to increased financial aid to low income students.

Praying that they won't take away OOS scholarships nor the theatre OOS tuition waiver. If they do, then we will have to look elsewhere.

Also, if you get an 8-semester scholarship as an incoming freshman, and maintain grades, etc., does it stay the full amount the whole time or is it impacted by budget cuts?

KnightNews.com Proposed Budget Cuts Show UCF Second Worst in State

You’ve gotta be kidding! Increase in tuition yet AGAIN? Didn’t it increase just last year??

$52 million is a bit hit for one year. A 15% tuition increase at UCF will only make up about 1/3 of the $52 million state funding cut for year. Gov. Scott suggests “tightening your belt” and looking for ways to reduce costs at UCF. Programs may be cut, classes eliminated, UCF cash reserves will be tapped, more tuition paying students may have to be be squeezed into existing classroom seats and contributing to worse teacher/student ratios. Anything is fair game and on the table at UCF for ways to cut expenses and/or increase revenue. More OOS students paying higher OOS nonresident tuition may be admitted and fewer Florida resident students paying lower instate tuition. It’s not fun not having enough money!

Yup… there was indeed a 15% increase in tuition just last year… I remember making a thread about it too.

What makes me mad is that UCF is always constantly building or renovating crap like they have all the money in the world. Stop building stuff and give students some of that money instead! Don’t get me wrong, I love UCF, but I hate that the tuition is always increasing. At least give us time to breathe and take in the increase bit by bit! It’s forcing me to take some classes at a community college because it’s heaps cheaper.
