529 count as student's asset?

<p>On the FAFSA session 6 about student asset, it asks about the college saving plan’s value. I assume this is about student’s 529 plan. I thought that should be listed under parent’s asset since they are the account owner. Am I right?</p>

<p>Unfortunately, there have been some families who have set up the ownership of 529s in their students' names unawares. Most families have the 529 set up in the parents' names w/ student beneficiaries.</p>
