550 words- good?

<p>I've been having a horrible time trying to get my essay down to a reasonable length (it started out at over 1,700 words). I'm finishing up what I hope will be the final draft and I'm at about 450 right now. I've still got a little bit of explanation to do as well as a conclusion. So, I'm assuming my essay will be about 550 words in length.</p>

<p>Is this an acceptable length?</p>

Final count- 650. Is it still too long?</p>

<p>No. 650 is perfectly fine. Just make sure every word in your essay counts for something, and isn’t superfluous.</p>
