57 seconds late.

I submitted my Common App to the Yale along with the writing supplement.
But, it went 57 seconds late and it shows the date of submission as 1 Jan 2014.
And apparently my writing supplement - even though I submitted it 5 minutes before 12 - shows the timing to be 'Submitted - January 1, 2014 - 12:09:25 AM ET.

The common app shows all green tick marks, but I'm slightly worried.
I already received an email saying both the forms were submitted, but just to be sure, will it cause any problems?

Should I be worried?

Don’t be worried. Go enjoy New Year’s Day.

You should contact the Yale admissions office, unless a senior member such as Gibby or T26E4 advises otherwise. Your part of the application --that is, both the common app and the supplement-- should have been in before 11.59pm. You should have submitted them at least a few hours before to avoid any (technical) issues.

Don’t be ridiculous. Of course you’re fine. You should absolutely not contact Yale admissions to tell them you submitted 57 seconds late. Or even 9 minutes if that’s what shows on your dashboard.

Do you have a green check mark? Then you’re fine. I don’t recall the details, but it has something to do with GMT/UTC (Greenwich Mean Time, now called Coordinated Universal Time). It happened to my son at the early deadline; no problem.

Hush. Makes me feel better.
What actually happened was that:

I was going to submit all the forms today. (I’m an international student)
So, I just glanced through the deadlines and OHMY! Yale’s deadline read 31st Dec.
That was with 20 minutes to the ET deadline.

I eventually pulled through though!
Fingers crossed for the decision! All the best to all those who applied!

@StanCardinal, mines was like 2 minutes off as well. I live in central time zone and did not know if they were going by my clock or theirs and just hit send!

“You should contact the Yale admissions office, unless a senior member such as Gibby or T26E4 advises otherwise.”

Thanks MeIs: Don’t contact Yale admissions. You’re 100% fine. Yale (and others) spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the best applicant pool possible. Do you think they set up a Claymore mine right at the finish line for situations such as this? Of course not.

I agree with T26E4. You’re absolutely fine; there’s no need to contact Admissions.

My application was two hours late last year (due to problems I was having with the payment system) and I was accepted with a likely letter! Don’t worry about it at all!

Yale extended the deadline anyway. I did not apply, and then Yale sent out a mass email that I received saying that students could have an extension until midnight tonight. I just submitted my application about 3 hours ago :)
