:( 58 units

So i thought i'd have 60 units at the end of this semester...but my counselor is a ing piece of *! It turns out i'm only gonn ahave 58!! I'm beyond ***ed off right now!! i just got a letter form san jose st rescinding my admittance....SJSU saying no to a 3.6 gpa because i only have 58 units instead of 60! I'm soooooooo ticked righ tnow. This means i have no chance for davis right?

BTW, this is after repeated assurances by my counselor that i only need to take 5 classes this semester..after i took 6 last semester! he told me i'd be "well over the 60 threshold" piece of ****

that sucks, you should have looked at it yourself, not left it to the hands of counselors who couldnt care less, they just want their paychecks, they dont care about our well being

Wait, didn't you keep track of the number of units yourself? When you pull up your grades, there's usually a running total of units alongside.

Maybe you can take some courses during the summer?

You may be able to add a short term online or random class. Look into it, and try to let these universities know ASAP, or you can appeal if decisions are too close to being released and have already been made. It's worth a shot. Best of luck!

Yeah, start contacting as many people as you can. It's easy for them to just write you off, but if you remain persistent, you could convince them otherwise.

DON'T LET THEM DO IT.

^^I agree. I would call the people at SJSU asap, I would imagine they could help you out. I was accepted at a CSU with only 7 semester transfer units and a little bit of arguing.

you could find a cc near you that's on the quarter system; we just started like a week ago and maybe you could take an easy online class that would be transferable...you would still be done by the end of spring

Yeah, all you have to do is tell them you agree to take a summer course or something.

I agree with sstory, here at De Anza (qtr system) we just started a week ago. Talk to the dean of counseling about your situation and ask if you can still add a class, or maybe fill some sort of form allowing you to add late, or see what other options he can come up with. Remember, dean of counseling and no one else.
Talking to SJSU is also a very smart idea.

How bout for Davis? Do you think an appeal stating i'd take a summer semester class would help>

the thing htat irks me more than anything is that my counsellor almost had me take 4 classes this semester...when i told him i'd take 5 he said there's no reason too...omg i'm the most ****ed off guy in the world right now

UCD Admissions, now more than ever can you please answer my question and help me out?

sweet holy mother of god.

i am so sorry. i wish you the best of luck.

from what i've seen about davis, they do not let you take classes during the summer to complete your IGETC/transfer.

i don't even know how appeals work.

man, i am so sorry. seriously, i think we can now confirm that counselors are pieces of **** and listening to them will only royally screw us over. keep us posted, man, i'm pulling for you (spiritually).

find an online class! even if it's a really far CC. it would suck if u have to wait another year. i almost miscalculated my units too but good thing i recalculated it and end up taking a bs theater arts class.

I have talked to so many people that have had horrible experiences with CCC counselors. It is best to use assist.org and your own judgement.

That being said, I really wish you the best of luck.

BTW... Did you apply to UCI, Merced, UCSC, or Riverside? They require that you finish the 60 units before enrolling so it is possible to complete this in the summer.

I don't know if that helps you but this si what UCD mailed me after I had updated my classes. Initially enrolled in Bio 1 but then changed it to Bio 21 and deleted Bio 1. Then I got this email.

We have carefully reviewed your recently submitted academic records
and/or recent correspondence, and find that you have not met your
Conditions of Admission to UC Davis. These conditions require that you complete
your remaining coursework with the same academic rigor and excellence
upon which we based our admission decision.

We will, however, make an exception and allow you to maintain your
admission status for fall 2008, despite dropping your Biology courses.

Please send your final official transcript by July 15 in order for us
to verify your completed courses and grades, to verify that you meet
your Conditions of Admission and the requirement(s) listed above, and to
finalize your admission. If you are required by our office to complete
courses in the summer, you must submit a final official transcript by
September 1, including grades and coursework completed through summer.
Failure to meet all these requirements will result in the cancellation of
your admission.

So maybe you have a still have a chance given that it wasn't your fault. But your counselor messed up big time.

if you don't have 60units by spring you not ganna get in to UCB,UCLA,UCSD for sure!

You have any AP units to back you up?

torrancecali- Isn't it by the END of spring?
I didn't know these schools were so adherent to that. Though I will have 69.5 completed by the end of Spring.

yah end of the spring yes!
