5th year college student? or start working?

Anyways since I’m just new accounting student I would want 2-3 years at least to prepare for it. Also accounting seems very flexible so I could be qualified for many business jobs.

Do you recommend the BA or MA/MS? I was quoted $22,000 for a 2 year 40 credit masters of accountancy in my state. I would need to take 6 extra credits (Intermediate and Auditing) since I haven’t taken them in my undergrad. I could do this as part of the program. Most other masters schools require 12-15 accounting credits anyways and you need 24 business courses in my state as well. Thus, the BA seems like the better, faster, cheaper option if I want to pass the CPA. The MS I would need to go back to take business related courses outside of accounting before being able to sit. (In Minnesota)

Is your FA available for the fifth year? I would verify this with the FA department. Many scholarships and grants are for four years only.

Also verify that you can borrow the 7,500 in direct loans since you have completed a BA degree already.

Do not assume anything. Call/Visit the FA department and speak to a specialist.

As for my sister, she taught mentally retarded (sorry not sure what the PC terms are today) students back before the days of “no child left behind”.

Looks like the fastest grad program for masters in accounting is a little over 2 years (starting in Sep so finishing around Nov 2018) while I can complete the BA in accounting by May 2017. What is everyone’s advice? Another BA is about $10,000 tuition while the masters is about $20,000, but takes longer. Also I have no work experience in Accounting so I feel a bachelors is more appropriate.
