6 ap classes?

is 6 ap classes too much. I plan on taking
physics
macro
comp gov
calc
lit
spanish lang

If physics is Physics C, yes, I think that would be a lot of work. But you know yourself the best–can you manage it?

Yes, lit and physics C, at least at my school, are very difficult

If these are truly college level classes then 6 is at least 1 too many. Consider typical course loads at college. Some colleges (such as Brown) limit the number of courses you take to 4, while most others limit the number to 5. There is no point in making high school more difficult than college. Anyway, in practice, if you do justice to all those AP courses by treating them as college courses, and preparing for and taking the AP exams, there is unlikely to be enough hours in the day to do much else. Do very well in 4 AP level classes and you’ll achieve more (academically and from the perspective of college admissions) than by doing ok in 6.

You might want to cut down on the number of AP classes you have there, or you could setting yourself up for a crash-and-burn situation.

However, you know yourself best, so the decision is ultimately up to you.

If you believe you can handle all that, then yes it’s fine. You may be costing your GPA though down the road.

Update:
Physics 1 I have heard that the teacher is very good and definitely teaches the students very well. There is not too much work for this class, maybe about 30 minutes a night and then studying for test and quizzes.
AP Macroeconomics is taken for a full year and the teacher is also very good.
AP Comp Gov I have heard is more on the easy side and the teacher assigns a reasonable amount of homework where you dont have to do too much work.
I’m taking AP Calculus AB.
I am very good at spanish so think i can do well in AP spanish lang.
AP lit is a hard class and I am having some mixed feelings.
What my thinking was, was that i would take 7 classes in total and then maybe drop one of them by the end of the first quarter if it proves to be too much work since i play baseball in the spring and want to have free time.
I truly appreciate all of the great responses that I have been getting, and I thank all of you.

It depends on how your school teaches them. Do seniors at your school typically take this many APs?
This would not be unusual for the top 10 students at my kid’s school. Is macro a semester or a whole year? Is comp gov a semester or a whole year?

I think it depends on how good you are in the different subject areas. AP Calc really in the end, it seems, depends on how good the teacher is. AP Macroeconomics is a relatively simple course (some of my friends have taken it online or as a self-study) and the content seems to be based a lot from reading graphs and things like that. I have no idea about AP Comp Gov, as my school doesn’t offer in online or in a classroom. If your AP Lit teacher/class is supposedly challenging I’d suggest maybe talking to the teacher who teaches it this year about your concerns and see what he/she says. I’ve heard Physics is a harder course, but again it can depend on your teacher. AP Spanish is another class I couldn’t tell you since I’m only in Spanish II, but if your good at it I say go for it.
