I'm planning out my courses for junior year next year, and here's what I have so far:

IB English I
IB Spanish I
IB History of the Americas
IB Environmental Systems I
IB Math HL I
IB Physics or Biology or Chemistry or ES I
Orchestra

I'm trying to maintain a 4.0 GPA. I also devote around 5-10 hours a week to extracurriculars. I've been getting good grades so far and I'm not bad at time management, but junior year is the toughest. and I know that just taking a few IB classes is tough in itself. Plus, I'm not so good with the whole lack of sleep thing.. but I have good work ethic and the motivation. Will it be impossible for me to take all of these IB classes and maintain straight A's?

It’s definitely possible. If you do IB at my school, you pretty much have to have 6 IB courses both years and it is possible.

I’m taking all IB courses and I got straight A’s first semester. I also know several people who got straight A’s as well, so it’s certainly doable.

It’s difficult, but it’s not the hardest thing in the world. People also tend to exaggerate, so don’t listen to them.

To earn your IB Diploma you HAVE to have at least 6 subjects.
3 HL and 3 SL subjects.
If you don’t complete those, you won’t get the diploma and the two IB years will be wasted.

6 classes are the minimum and what is advised, but if you decide to take on more subjects, you need to be sure that you can handle it.
Remember… It’s much better to get 6’s and 7’s in all subjects, than getting a range of grades, some poor and some good. It’s easier to get great grades when you can focus on a smaller amount of subjects.

There’s also CAS, TOK and EE to think about using time on.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t take more subjects if you want. Who knows… You might need some specific subjects for a University application and having 7 or 8 subjects works out better. Just make sure that you can handle it.
Because… Even though your classes may seem easy, (not every IB school has the same level of difficulty), the exams are the same all over the world, and it would really suck for you to get bad exam grades.

Your IB courses aren’t that hard either. IB Math HL is the only hard course there, assuming you’re taking all the others SL, which I doubt but I’ll assume anyways.

Sorry, but don’t expect a straight A in HL Math unless you’ve learnt everything before.
