600 kids in my year! How many do u have?

Well I'll be moving to the US pretty soon and I was damn surprised about the student population. There are around 2300 students in the school from 9 to 12. So thatz like around 600 students per year!!! In my current school, we onli have 120 in a year and still many find that there are too many kids. (around 25 students in 5 classes)

Are public schools usually THIS big? I remember attending a public elementary school in the US when I was 3rd grade but I remember there were only like 15~20 per class.

hmm... 600 students! School rank will def be damn tuff... or is this an average number of student populatin?

I go to the smallest(and oldest) school in the area and our school is ound 1500 and the graduating class is around 350.... the school down the road is over 3000 kids- crazy!

lol... how many classes are there? This reminds me of korea... where there are 40~50 kids crammed in one realli ****room. Well the situations got better nowadays... Smallest school and 1500 lol!

Only high school in town- 1200 kids. (250 or so in my class).

Our sophomore class has about 850 kids (biggest class). the seniors are like 800, and our school has over 3,000 kids. Very crowded

~1200. ~280 in my class.

about 800 in my class

I had about 550 in my class

60 at most?

900 in my school... 220 in my class.

330 in my class

tlqkf2002 : Most classes have between 30-40 kids except for a few high level courses. Also understand that over 70% of the seniors go somewhere else during the day... either an early release program, work study, or college co op type thing. During the first couple periods of the day the school is crowded but by the first lunch(at 10:40) the halls clear because so many kids leave. ... it works.

2300 in my school...about 850 in my class

465 in my class. I know of schools with ~1000 in each class.

whyme, what grades does your high school have? just 10th through 12th?

We had 77 but then more dropped out, so we had 72. Then we got new kids and it went up to 82... Small schools, gotta love em.

smallest in my school with only 424 kids...freshman class has 600

160 in my class...we're the smallest

There's about 230 in my grade...that's pretty much average for each year.

It really depends on where you go to school. Where I live, most of the public schools are enormous. My brother's high school has over 4,000 kids total, and the same goes for many of the zoned schools, which are usually very overcrowded.

I should be happy, then, that my public high school is extremely small by city standards. We have on average 250 students per class (though mine is a little bigger - about 285), for a total of just over 1,000. Everyone knows each other. Gotta love small schools.

about 2,000 kids, 550 freshman, 405 junior, 450 senior, 450 sophies

high school in same district has about 500+ students, but most of my classes have 18-25 students, except math which has 32 (most requested teacher in school, 141 students, 76 requested her)
