so i scored a 640 on math 2 last december. should i retake again this month on the 23rd?
im a senior so theres not a high chance they will see the updated score.
should i bother?
notes:
*late registration deadline in 2 days
*i know what i did wrong and i will definitely improve my score since a 640 on math 2 is not a good score
*colleges i am applying to have subject tests as optional
What’s your major and what schools did you apply to? If it’s STEM or business, you should submit a Math 2 score, but otherwise you might consider leaving it out for highly selective colleges.
@goldenbear2020
I’ve already sent it to 2 schools I’m applying to.
Couple of UCs (Have not sent to them…) + UVA and few others. Most likely business major.
I just heard some people can retake tests again in January as a last time thing and send it in later so I don’t know if i should do that or if it’s even allowed.
I’ve sent it for UVA because their deans have assured me so many times they won’t count them against you (if you feel like the score is bad) and that they are 100% optional, so I sent them in to let them know I at least tried.
UCs also have the same policy of only considering SAT 2 scores that help your application, so I would go ahead and send those in too. A retake couldn’t hurt since a 640 is on the low end for selective schools, especially for Business majors.
You should definitely retake it, if it’s related to your major. Like you said, they might not see the updated score. It can’t hurt to retry, and considering that the Math 2 is one of the most curved tests (highest percentage of 800’s of subject tests), it is more conceivable to aim for a higher score. Good luck!
