640 on World History

Literature - 770
Chem - 750
Math 2 - 730
World History - 640

The private colleges I'm applying to allow score-choice. Should I leave off my 640 world history score, or is it better to show variety in subject areas? Will the 640 hurt me or help me?

Thanks!

If your schools are not ivies, then I would definitely leave the World History score on. It’s an above average score; it shows a willingness to go above and beyond in your efforts to achieve success in your college search; and it shows a certain well-roundedness. Not everybody can do as well as you can in all areas. Most colleges don’t expect or require perfection. They do want to know who you are – the more you can tell them (within reason), the better.

If your schools ARE ivies, I still don’t know that I’d leave World History off. The same reasoning applies. But the whole ivy thing does give one greater pause…

You’re amazing!! I wish I was this intellectually capable haha
I really don’t think it would hurt, since you’ve taken 4 SAT II’s, which is more than a great majority of people take, and have done exceptionally well on all but history. Nonetheless, the history score is above average, and collectively you have got an impressive proof of knowledge. I wouldn’t leave anything out! I really can’t think of this hurting you in any way.

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually am applying to some Ivies and other selective colleges–my top choices are Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, and Chicago. I plan on majoring in biochemistry, so I guess my world history score cant hurt me. But if it’s a sore to see something in the lower 600’s, I don’t want to risk it.

It won’t be a problem for either of those schools to see a score in the mid-600’s. All 3 of the schools you mentioned, Northwestern and Chicago in particular, like the well-rounded kids who perform well in several areas. That’s you!
