Seriously, I mean, I can accept the stupid mistakes, which are only around 3-4, i.e 770-780 (the test has a -3 = 800 curve) but the vocab is just ****ing me off. Not just the sentence completions - I got 4 of those wrong, but 2 extra questions in the passages that involved vocab. Got those wrong. Totaling 670 on my scaled score.

I mean, I need 700 at minimum so exclude the vocab mistakes, say I get slightly less stupid mistakes, I can get a 780-800 on CR (which, by the way, seemed impossible to me a month ago, seeing as I got 630 on my first SAT - cold.)

I got the Q&A for that test, actually, and my mistakes were very similar. 5 SC wrong, a couple errors because of vocab in the passages, and add some stupid mistakes.

I'd love any pointers on how to improve to get that 780. Is Direct Hits THAT effective? Should I shell out the money for that too? I'm taking the SAT in June, most probably last time, so I really need an 800 on M (not too difficult) and a 750+ on CR. Also, some tips on avoiding stupid mistakes would be great if anyone's in a similar situation...

Thanks in advance :)

PS: Does Direct Hits have just about all the words that might come? I mean, in this test, a few of the words I had no clue as to their meaning were:
visceral, capricious, loquacious, decorous, ostentations, ossified, venerable, pugnacious, jubilant, perfidy, indigence, aspersion, dictum, conception (yeah I suck, I know), erroneous, unintelligible, dilettante, iconoclast, diaphanous (wth, seriously).
Ironically, I'd heard of every word except the last one - and I got all the rest wrong, except the question with the last one in it.
