<p>I have my essay written and I polished it several times, but I just can't get it down to 500-words level. I tried it on Common App Online and it fits in the space they provided, but I feel that 170 excess words may be too much. I wonder if it would be ok to use this essay. If not, I want to know what is the highest end for acceptable word amount for Common App. Thank you.</p>

<p>That's too much. Does the commapp even cut you off? I've known of 900 word essays that still fit. 34% over the limit isn't such a good move :D</p>
