<p>The psychological difference between 690 and 700 is, in most admissions officers’ minds, presumably greater than that between 700 and 710. Unless our awareness of the tendency of our intuitions to draw this disproportionate distinction yields exaggerated compensation, it really couldn’t be any other way in situations in which the section scores were not summed before human analysis.</p>
<p>But neither difference is very big, so the difference between the differences is unlikely to be very big either.</p>
