I forgot about BC when I got into ND.. same as joker up there.

Also BC receives more than 2x the number of applications that ND does... which would make one think it is more popular... which doesn't make the decision seem like a "no brainer" (and for the record, I'm that kid who tossed my ND package into the garbage when I got into BC...)

I like both schools (graduated from BC). The biggest bunch of misinformation regarding BC is that it’s somehow way out in the suburbs and it’s a long haul to get into Boston. The main BC campus STRADDLES the Boston/Newton line. In other words, about half the BC campus (especially since a recent land purchase) is IN the city limits of Boston (there is no CITY of Chestnut Hill).

BC students go into the more urban parts of Boston all the time. They go to the attractions in “downtown” Boston and also there are lots of great things to do and see in Boston that are not in “downtown” Boston.

The whole time I went there I never heard one person complain that the campus was too far from the action in Boston…it was more like they loved the fact that the campus was in a location that was so close to all the action, yet was in a safe and peaceful corner of the city.

What it comes down to is Notre Dame is superior to BC in almost all aspect of college life. Better academics, prestige, sports, collegial experience. Go with Notre Dame its an absolute no brainer.

Brown bear and UCLA PhD are classic CollegeConfidential distorters of statistics. They take relatively small differences in a few quantitative statistics and infer gigantic qualitative differences across the board. It’s like saying a certain model of Ferrari that has a top speed of 175 mph is obviously far superior to a certain model of Porsche because its top speed is only 162, never mind the headroom, the legroom, the gas mileage, the resale value, the reliability, the availability of spare parts, etc. In other words, you can’t take things as large and complex as universities and reduce their comparison down to minor differences in a few quantitative areas.

Haha this is another post started a year ago. This is the 2nd one that was taken up a year later that I have seen.

Schmaltz, so your implying that Notre Dame and BC are equals? because this is not the case. Notre Dame will beat out BC in every single category. Why do BC fans think they are deserving of comparing themselves with such elite institutions such as Notre Dame?

Brown Bear and UCLA phd make it sound like Notre Dame students are all splitting atoms in their dorm rooms while BC students have a hard time getting a spoonful of Cocoa Puffs into their mouths. The two student bodies have gigantic overlaps, and whatever gap their was in decades past has certainly shrunk to an almost meaningless difference.

Not only are quantitative differences exaggerated, the qualitative differences are plucked out of thin air. Brown Bear cites ND’s superior sports. ACC basketball vs. Big East Basketball? ND surely has a better football PAST, but what’s it like in the present? Seven home games per year, most of which will involve the Irish getting beaten? BC hockey has won 2 national championships this decade…

The “superior college experience”? Considering proximity to off-campus things of interest, BC has one of the best locations of any comparable college in the country, while ND has one of the least-interesting locations imaginable.

Schmaltz GROW UP! BC can’t even compete academically to NYU so how can you suggest they can compare to Notre Dame? NYU absolutely man handles BC academically in every field. Please stop with the nonsense. The only reason why BC has become better academically is because of Doug Flutie. You can thank him for your overrated ranking. Academically there are far better schools than BC such as UT Austin, UF, UW. Im sorry but BC should be near the bottom of the top 50 maybe even outside looking in.

I rest my case.

What case? you never had case. You had an imagination that BC can be compared to Notre Dame which is largely false. So wake up and smell the coffee because your dreaming pal.

I like BC but what do you think of Vanderbilt
