So I was home sick today and since I was bored, I decided to take a look around W&M's website and discovered these trips. Do any of you have any experiences with them? What is the selection process like? Also, when will information be available for the 2011 trips? I wasn't really involved in a lot of service throughout high school, but that's something I would like to change and the 2010 trip options seemed very interesting to me.

Hi bandgeek…I haven’t seen the page you are referring, but I would like to share our experience with the Canterbury. We are blessed to know Fr. John Kerr, the W&M chaplain. He took a group of W&M students to Belize for a service project during spring break. One piece of info I really liked to hear was the amount of fundraising the students did to defer the cost. By doing this ,many students were able to attend with little outof pocket expense.(well, at least manageable to this family anyway :-)

bandgeek, on May 1, the welcome site will become the enrolling student site and will provide you with links to information on pre-Orientation service trips. You can also contact the Office of Community Engagement and Service ([William & Mary - Office of Community Engagement and Scholarship](Office of Community Engagement | William & Mary)) as they oversee many of these trips. There have also been other pre-Orientation trips in the past run by Rec Sports for example. Once May 1 hits this year’s trips should be in place and information will be provided on the enrolling student site.

Hope you’re feeling better!
