I got a 7 on the Oct. 14 SAT. It was below anything I ever expected.

How do you guys prepare for essays? Do classes help? Recommend anyway (Princeton Review, Kaplan, etc.)? Any tips?

Thanks!

I got a 7 too Lydia. The best thing you could do is get to the bottom of the second page and come up with premade examples.

one book and historical event

i got an 8 the first time i took mine and i wrote 1.5 pages with no literature and no history or anything but second time i wrote about literature and wrote 1.8 pages and got same score as last time. and i'm ABSOLUTELY sure i wrote a better essay this time...

In January when I took the SAT I got a 7, but in October I got an 11. The first time I ran out of time and got cut off mid-sentence and only wrote about a page and a half. The second time however I finished in plenty of time, wrote two full pages, and cited examples from history, literature, and my own life. I took the Princeton Review online course for about a month and a half before the SAT--and it worked wonders for me. My SAT score went up 130 points overall, and my writing score went up 70--I highly recommend it.

make sure you write a clear thesis, good examples (dont use personal) and fully develop them and then wrap it up with a quick conclusion (11 first time, 10 second time)

I wrote a 4 paragraph essay (got a 10 by the way), and I was lucky, too, that it was on a topic I cared a lot about. Really, I blew away my inhibitions on the language and came out quite spiteful to the opposite side. All I did, really, was take a strong stance, and back it up with reason. I used examples from literature and easily graspable hypothetical situations. I didn't finish my essay though -- only a sentence into the conclusion. 1.5 pages, I think.

how do u no wat u got on the essay? mine doesn't say

Really? My score report on CollegeBoard does.

I got a 8 the first time 'cause I only wrote a page.. but 2nd time I got a 12 by writing 2 pages. I was really surprised since everyone I know usually got 10-11's... ha my overall still isn't very good.

Anyway, I always try to use one literature example just to sound intelligent, and I actually used the NBA Finals as one of my examples on the 12 essay.

i got a 7 on my essay. it wasnt that bad! i had a near perfect score on multiple choice in the writing section, but my essay brought it down to a 670.

first time I took it I got an 7 lol, I thought I did well but apparently not, but I took it again in october and I got a 12, I was soo surprised considering Ive never studied english at school lol.
All I can say is write simple dont use big words u dont know but let it be creative I guess. My conclusion wasnt even finished cause I finished the whole 2 pages and I didnt have any space left
