7 point scale?

Does anyone else have a 7 point scale at their school?
93-100 = A
85-93 = B
75-85 = C
and so on? I got a 91 last year in one semester of an AP class and I know it won't mess up my GPA too much but it ****es me off that it's a B...

Nope, sucks to be you :D

I have it, and I hate it. I miss the 10 point scale. :(

I think it makes me work harder and therefore smarter :)

It makes me work harder now but I still hate that “technically” it was an A

Colleges will take note of your school’s 7 point scale and it’ll end up being a benefit to you, provided you can make the grades.

I remember having a point scale similar to that at my private Catholic elementary school. How long has the regular 10-point scale been around? Because I remember looking at my mom’s public school report cards and they were on a 7 point scale.

@cosine45 Really?? I didn’t know they would know it was a 7 point scale

We have that 7-point scale in my school. Actually, I believe most NC Public Schools use that scale. Colleges will take note of the scale that your school uses.

Personally, I prefer the 10 point scale because it’s more widespread, and because I’ve had seven 92s since freshman year :(.

So a 92.9 is a B? Wow, that’s stupid.
At my school 91.9+ is an A and 89.9-91.9 is an A minus.
However we have harder classes to make up for it.

My great grandfather said a 90 was an A in his school in North Dakota.

I think the scale has been around for a long time.

Actually, anything below a 92.5 is a B. Most schools round a 92.5 to a 93. Either way, it’s still stupid if you ask me.

The public schools here do.

And it’s nice when you’re transferring… because an A- here is a 90-92… but it shows up as an A-, so they automatically convert it to a 93… and so your grade gets super bumped.

I think that my cousin said that in Mississippi an A is a 95+… which would uber suck.

my school didn’t do any rounding for grades. :frowning: you could always make a note of it in your application that you’re on a 7 point scale instead of 10 though

I hope colleges don’t hold it against us 7 point people…technically we all have A+'s

we had 9 point scales my freshman year. Lowest grade was about a 96.

Ten point scales, still doing well.

My school is
100-93 A
92-86 B
85- 78 C
70- 78 D

So a C- here is a B at some schools

I like it because I get all As and it helps my rank by giving people in 90-93 range Bs

I mean 7 point… not 9 point…

I hate the +/- system because they decided to eliminate class rank and valedictorian because “the increased challenge of the new system leads us to eliminate the need for class rank”

***?

yes, i have it too.
it’s brilliantly stupid.
without it, my gpa would be, like a 3.9
