I know that for CSU's there is a 70 unit max. that you can transfer over. What I wanted to find out was if you can pick which units you want to transfer over? I am transfering to a 4 year from a CC and have decided to change my major. I want to be able go to my 4 year but still take some pre-req's for my new major at my CC at the same time which I would like to be able to transfer over to my CSU later on. Can you "switch" units out later or is it once you have been enrolled in your 4 year college those transfered units are "locked in" so to speak? So with my plan it would basically be same 70 unit max. just with different courses? I know this sounds weird, I appreciate any help. Thanks!

funny, I discussed the same situation to a counselor at my school! from my understanding is that the classes will transfer over, but the credits will still total up to 70 units. So, if those pre req’s transfer over and you obviously need them for your major, talk to an academic advisor at the university. especially if you’ve exceeded the max units.

I think it also depends on how topped off you on transferring credits.
