700+ cr

So far, I have memorized DH 1 and 2, RR, and the Hit Parade. However, I still tend to get around 650 in CR. How should I get the last 50 points. Should I start to mindlessly plow through the BB practice CR sections? Is there any alternative? I have tried a bit with Notitaraperp's technique, but it has not been too effective. Should I continue to use that or is there a different approach? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yeah… I’m in that same situation…=((

Try to finish the CRs as soon as possible and then give it your all in the reading passages.

That’s what I’m TRYING to do. My CR score is horrible!

You said you memorized all those lists but you haven’t indicated which questions you’re still getting wrong. Are you still having trouble with the sentence completions, or are the passage-based questions bringing your score down?

Oh, I miss around 2 sentence completions per test and like 10-7 passage questions per test.

A good way to get a good score in CR is to have a basic knowledge of word roots and be able to rule out obvious incorrect answers. Some knowledge of Latin would be helpful. The best way to get a good score is to read avidly and look up words you don’t know. I’ve been reading one or two pleasure books a month throughout high school and meticulously defining every word I don’t know - this way I get a sense of the way each word is used in addition to knowing its definition. If you guys are juniors - it’s not too late, start reading! If you guys are seniors up against a deadline, I guess the best you can do is just try to memorize as much of the hit parade as you can…

Take the BB CR sections over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Your score will rise.

For the vocab, just look through the BB for vocab words you got wrong. Then write them down and remember them. Seriously, collegeboard recycles them.

So BB tests it is? As for the vocab part, I am just going to leave that alone. I mean missing 2 out of the ENTIRE test isn’t that bad if you are only aiming for 700+. Doing only the passage questions will save time and allow me to repeat them many more times.

I think your main problem is not vocab, but passage based questions instead. I am having the same problem. I think you should read the passage quickly and spend more time on Q&As, trying to reason correct answer.

I’m havin the same problem. I noticed that I tend to miss questions just because I pick answer choice that I ASSUMED is correct, instead of paraphrased version of what is STATED or IMPLIED in the passage. It is not as easy as it may seem, though.

What is the BB list?
