720/740 on Math SAT I for MIT?

I have a 2320 on the SAT (800R, 720M, 800W), and my superscore is 2340 (800R, 720M, 800W). My Math II was a 790. Is MIT out of the question now?

I want to major in linguistics.

Good Morning! MIT is out of the question for most people lol. But no, your chances aren’t bleak. You are fine.

Ah I made a mistake…I meant to say that my superscore math was 740*

You have a 2320 SAT.

Roughly this equates to:

Total Percentile: 99.77%
Male Percentile: 99.72%
Female Percentile: 99.80%

And you feel that “MIT out of the question” — based on WHAT? Like @AnnieBeats said, no one who applies can expect but a poor chance. Many factors beyond SATs will be considered. But to say that your 2320 removes you from consideration is can only be:

1) humble brag
2) complete lack of perspective on your actual achievement
3) total lack of analytical ability which means zero chance at MIT or
4) combination of 1 and 2

I understand that a 2320 is high (my goal was 2300), but I am concerned because my math score seems rather low for an MIT applicant. 750-800 are their average math scores.
