730 math, 2320 overall. retake?

Hi! I'm a junior, and I'd get 800's on the math section of the SAT on practice tests but about 600-something for critical reading.

Got the score back and got an 800 CR, 790 W, and 730 math. Is that 730 going to hurt my chances at UPenn?

80 CR, 80 W... and 70 M on PSAT as well D:

You’re going to be fine. If you are still worried, just do well in math in school and try to get a 800 on the SAT II Math II Exam.

Thanks for the reply, Aloice! I’m definitely studying for the SAT II Math II Exam. I just saw the look on my counselor’s face when I told her I got a 730 in math and freaked out.

Unless you are going to apply to SEAS, you’re fine.

Penn takes people with 730 M and much lower CR and W scores than yours. If you are sure you want Penn, apply ED. You should be fine without re-taking the SAT.

Don’t retake it, your scores are absolutely fine. Put your energy elsewhere. Make sure your grades in your math class this semester and the first half of next year will be as good as you can get them.

Don’t bother retaking if you plan to apply to the College of Arts and Science, but if you plan to apply to Wharton, you might want to consider retaking for the math because Wharton looks very carefully at math scores/grades.

thanks for the advice guys! breaker, that scares me, because I was definitely thinking of applying to Wharton. I’ll be done with Calc III in a partnership program with the local state school by the time I graduate high school. I’m okay at math, and I like it, but it’s definitely not a passion.
