Is 750 on math section of SAT(2300) a deal breaker for Caltech if everything else is top notch including 5 on AP Calc and 800 on SAT Math 2?
Anyone?
I’d like to know also since my son is in the same boat
Not a Caltech Student or hopeful, just dropping a link to maybe alleviate some concerns. http://www.prepscholar.com/sat/s/colleges/Caltech-admission-requirements
I mean, you’re below their middle 50%, so unless the rest of your app is strong, that will hurt you. But I’m assuming that a school as selective as Caltech doesn’t accept on Scores alone, how does the rest of your app look?
Caltech looks at scores to see you if you’ll survive their difficult curriculum. However, Ben Golub said that in Caltech’s eyes a 750 and a 800 are the same.
EA admit here. I got 770 on SAT math, but was still accepted for the EA class of 2020. I also got 5’s on both AP Calcs and an 800 on SAT Math II. You show that you know your stuff and that you just made a couple stupid mistakes - you’re probably good.
Fellow EA admit here, with a 750 on the SAT math section, an 800 on Math II, and 5s on the AP Calcs. I’d say it’s possible.
Just take Math II, much more lenient curve and prove to them 750 was a fluke.
Test scores only mean so much. I had 740 math II and a 750 SAT Math and still got in
