76,000+ applicants

I got an email saying the decisions would be released on march 19th and they also said they received over 76,000 applicants. Thats an intimidating number

I know right! I was about to post the same topic! This number is scary! Does anyone know the approximate number of offers will they send out?

uhuh that’s quite a lot… the acceptance rate is going to reduce drastically…

"UCSB has received 76,026 applications for undergraduate admission for fall 2013. Of those, 62,402 are from prospective first-year students and 13,637 are from applicants seeking to transfer to UCSB. Of particular note, freshman applications have increased significantly in engineering, biology, economics, and physics.

UCSB has target enrollments of 4,300 first-year students and 1,550 transfer students for the fall." Scary !!!

That’s not worse than CSULB they topped 80,000.

I already know where I’m going in the fall. I’m going to see what the UC’s say before I submit my accept button to where I’m headed.

Thank God I applied for Math major. Good luck everyone!

I got that same email yesterday too…My hopes are crushed a little…:(

I applied undeclared but I have cal poly under my belt in case I dont get in. Good luck to all of you!

Was the 76,000 figure an increase over last year?

Oh yeah I think they got around 40,000-50,000 last year

http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2013/fall_2013_applications_table1.pdf

They got about 13,000 more applicants this year than last year. I don’t think it will drop the admittance rate by too much. Maybe by 1-2%.
