Is this good enough for Ivy Leagues? My goal is to get into Wharton. Should I retake?
No need that is a really good score.
Unfortunately, a 790 is only 80th percentile. So I am not too sure . . .
Based on my son’s SAT Math II result today, 800 is actually 79th percentile so 790 can’t be 80th percentile.
But if it was my son, I would tell him not to take it again. 790 or 800 are both great scores.
Congratulations!
No. Spend your time on the other parts of your app and enjoying senior year.
Don’t get caught up with percentiles. It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
If you end up getting rejected, it will not be because of a 790. Don’t retake. Put the energy into other aspects of the application packet. Good luck.
It definitely is. 790 may not be a score in as high of a percentile as you hoped for, the subject tests are really just used as an indicator of college readiness. Ivy Leagues really only care about getting 740+ and recognize that the difference between 790 and 800 is slim. Your score is still really strong for college admissions, while not perfect.
That’s not good enough. You need 800 to get into Wharton. 790 won’t cut it. (joke)
Haha so funny this thread reminds me of this Jeremy Lin and James Harden video. The video talked about facts and non-truths about each other. One of the questions pertained to what was Jeremy Lin’s SAT Math II Subject score. Scroll over to around the 1:20 mark for the question and the funny result.
