A NIGHTMARE! (okay, maybe a bit dramatic,) but I need a bit of insight on this. So, basically–in seventh grade, I wasn’t the best student, and managed to receive an F both semesters of Spanish. I recently found out that these are on my high school transcript, and they’re not hurting my GPA or anything, since I got 0 credit for them–but I’m a little anxious. Since then, I have managed to receive near perfect grades with multiple AP classes, and have built a solid academic profile for myself. I’m just wondering what will happen if colleges see F’s from a literal twelve year old 7th grader?
Trust me, they don’t care
They won’t care about grades in 7th grade, but did you make up the failed year? They might care if you haven’t met the minimum requirement for foreign language. I would sit down with your counselor and find out if you still have to complete a year of FL.
Yes, @Lindagaf I have since made up a FL requirement through a different language in my high school. I was just a little worried since I recently heard about recalculating GPA? I’m not TOO familiar with it, but if a college did that, would it bring those years into consideration (meaning lowering my overall GPA?) Thank you again.
If, and this is a big if, a college recalculates GPA (many/most don’t), they will not include grades for HS classes taken prior to 9th grade.
@skieurope thank you for the reassurance!
