7th Grade SAT Improvement?

I’m a 7th grader that just got my SAT scores (through Duke TIP). I got 630 reading, 610 writing, and 590 math, total of 1830. I was wondering what the average improvement from 7th grade to high school was.

@Crouton1262803 congrats! It could improve a lot, or none at all. I scored 540 500 460(math reading writing).

I am a senior and tbh slacked on my test and got a 620 math 610 reading and 570 writing. In a practice test through kaplan I scored a 2100 with intensive studying and lead up to it. Unfortunately I missed the sign up for the tests and had a 3 month summer break and then delayed it till november which effectively lost all my test taking skills:p

Look up what percentile you are for 7th graders. Then look at the same percentile for seniors.

That is a great score for an 7th grader. My son received a ACT 25 in 7th grade, 33 in 10th and 36 (maximum) in 11th. If you follow the same path you will end up with a superlative score. Well done!

Based on what happened with my kids (who did no significant additional test-prep work), I think you should expect to see your scores increase significantly over time. Duke publishes the results for 7th graders here: https://tip.duke.edu/downloads/ts/7/summary.pdf My kids (twins) started a bit higher than you (640-670 in all three sections) and got a 34 and 35 on the ACT when they took it as sophomores. They also did had only slightly less than perfect scores on the PSAT they took this fall. Keep studying. Push yourself a bit on math, and you’ll do quite well in a few years.

The PSAT is worth studying for when you take it in 11th grade, simply because of scholarship potential.

Thanks for the advice :). I definitely could have done better in math. My calculator was broken so I couldn’t use it at all, so I think that could have contributed a bit

@Crouton1262803 Congrats on great score, I am also in duke tip this year. I took the ACT since it was popular choice in our school. I got 30 in ACT. I wiill, probably take SAT in May just to see how it compares with my act scores. I think you also qualify for grand recogintion rewards from duke.
