I will be using a correspondence school next year to complete my junior year of high school. By next May I plan on completing AP English Language, AP US History, AP English Literature, AP World History, AP Bio and possibly AP Environmental Sciences. I will be self studying for AP Psychology and possibly AP Spanish.

Do you believe that it would be very difficult for a dilligent student to get 4s and 5s when taking eight of these AP exams all within the same time period?

My current school does not offer AP classes until junior year so I have will be taking no exams this year. I would like to take and excel on as many as possible and since I am taking the courses for six of them, I would definitely like to take those AP exams and I have heard that with time and effort, AP Psych is easy to self study for.

People I know have done it before. If you’re willing to work hard and also have the capability to do it, then go for it.

nah bro you’re *ed, im in world history alone and im *ed, spending around ~6 hours a day on weekends and ~2 horus a day on weekdays hoping ill get a 3 or higher

AP Psych is definitely self-studyable, AP Spanish is not unless you’re a native speaker who has a strong grasp of grammatical concepts of Spanish.

I am taking 8 AP exams this year, and your list carries quite a few “heavy-hitters”–AP US, AP Bio, and AP World all require a significant amount of memorization. It’s possible, but it’s difficult.

reach4thesky, thank you :D!

theeboy3, are you self-studying that course or taking a class on it? I am going to be taking the AP world history course as prep for it, so that should prepare me (or at least I hope so).

imagodei, thanks for the opinion. I’ve been taking Spanish for five years and although I am good at it, I’m no where near a native speaker’s level. I’ll reconsider that one. I am going to be taking the actual AP courses for AP US, AP Bio and AP World. I am strong in history and memorization in general, and have taken a normal level biology class before. Do you think it’s still difficult if taking the courses, rather than self-studying? Also, what AP exams are you taking that you might suggest as less difficult if I were to replace the Spanish with another.

Anyone have experience with Human Geo? Easy to self-study?

Human Geo is a great easy self study but it really depends on why you’re self studying. It’ll get you virtually no credit in any top schools, but it’ll perhaps look good that you self studied it.

You CAN take all of that, it’s definitely possible. I’m doing something similar, taking 6 this year and they are not easy ones to blow off. Lots and lots of memorization and lots and lots of time and facts to know. It’s so manageable if you are good at working with time, though. You’ll need to stay dedicated throughout the year though and get through hard days where teachers pile you with so much work on the same day. And on the days where you don’t have much to do, GET AHEAD.

You can do it if you’re dedicated and know what you want and how to get there.

Also kind of depends on which tests you’re thinking about taking–

Eng. Lang for me requires not a single minute of prep (I’m in a class, we’ve been writing essays all year, I’m naturally good at writing and Critical Reading, etc) and I don’t think I’ll have a problem with a 5. Biology and Euro history and US History all require many hours of studying to memorize things…

If you can take the english exam, maybe a Calc exam (if you’re naturally gifted at math, don’t have a hard time learning the material, just review briefly before the exam and you’ll be fine), then it’ll lessen the load

AP exams are really not that hard; generally, the curve is generous enough that 75% correct will get you a 5. Depending on your school, however, AP classes may be pretty difficult.
This year, I’m taking 8 AP tests(Gov, Econ, Mechanics, E&M, English, Calc, Bio, Chem). I’ve gotten 5’s on all the pratice tests I’ve recently took except for Gov and Econ(lol). However, I’ve gotten quite a few B’s and C’s this year.

It should not be too difficult at all IF you manage your time. 8 APs, with some heavy hitters is not something you can study the night before and get a 4 or 5. However, if you spend time, prepping for a month or 2, I see no reason why 5’s cannot be achieved across the board.
