As an Asian male, you’re in the toughest demographic to get in, everybody else applying will have similar if not better accomplishments than you. So after you take out athletes, legacies, first gen students, URMs, the actual acceptance rate for folks without any hook is 1-2%. Asian males are even in a tougher group, especially for STEM, so you have to think it’s more around 1%, maybe even less. If it’s your dream school, apply, your unique factor would be the business you started. Then you can’t apply early anywhere else except a public university. I would apply regular decision to MIT, Wharton, Berkeley, Cal Tech, maybe Cornell as those schools don’t give as much an advantage to the hooks I mentioned.
