800 Bio SAT 2, should I take the Chem SAT 2 as well?

Hi - I’m a sophomore in high school, and I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to take the Chem SAT 2. Here’s my situation:

I have done very well in my Chemistry Honors class, and my teacher in that class is under the impression that anyone who takes that class should aim for the SAT 2 at the end of the year. However, I wish to major in business/economics at an Ivy school in the future - and I do not like chemistry the subject itself. I’ve gotten an 800 on my Bio SAT 2 last year, and am planning to take the Math 2 SAT 2 next year in my junior year.

I’m pretty sure I can make out some time to study for the Chem SAT 2 over the summer though - but I also do have other projects to work on if I choose not to take it.

Then there’s the problem of originally wanting to take the normal SAT in August. I could always take the SAT in September, but that’s usually a super busy month for all. What should I do?

Competitive schools may go test optional for this upcoming cycle, but they will probably preparer to see a test score. Focus on studying for the SAT main tests. And you’re a rising junior, right? So I see no rush or real reason to even take the chem test if your plan is to major in business and take Math 2 test at some point.

If you already have an 800 on a science Subject Test, there’s little to be gained from taking another one.

Spend your prep time on the regular SAT and then Math2 next May/June, assuming that’s where it fits with your coursework. Or other efforts/projects more impactful to you, your college application, etc.

(Side note: they haven’t been known as “SAT 2” since 2005).
