<p>I used the Princeton Review book. All I did was take one of the practice tests and read the section about the essay. I'd suggest you follow the suggestions about the essay practically to the letter. Sure, it's processed and formatted BS, but if it's what they're looking for then by all means... I pulled an 11 out of 12 on the essay part and an 800 overall.</p>
<p>I didn't prep at all. I'd definitely second the suggestion of Strunk & White though, as a guide to life and grammar, and would just say that if you read enough, eventually writing becomes pretty intuitive.</p>
<p>I agree with Livedeeply. A good grammar book is much better than a test specific prep book. If you can write well in real life, you'll do just fine on the SAT II.</p>
