It’s been a while now, and there exist some guides on getting 800 in sat chemistry but since I promised to write one myself if I get 800 too, I am doing it anyways ?)
Also this guide is for those who think that the don’t fully know high school chemistry and have many holes, but if you think that you have a good command over the subject just review topics from Barron’s or sparknotes and attempt practice tests.
So first things first to an 800 in sat chemistry you need to get like above (79/85 ) in the test. This is very important because some of my friends were using older versions of study guides and thought even 70-75/85 can get u a 800. Well this is not certainly impossible but for the practice tests getting between 78-80/85 will help.
for the full score conversion table refer to

Now I have used Barron’s, sparknotes, and mc Graw hill to study but with out any specific strategy so this is what I wish I did, it would have also saved a lot of time for me
- Study a chapter from sparknotes and throughly understand it and jot down anything you find important or new on a fresh sheet of paper. And do the sums. (Many people find sparknotes easier to understand than Barron's so getting to know the concepts first will definetly help in understanding Barron's more).
. - Now go to the Barron's chapter and read it fully if you are not already bored and if you are then just skim through the sections and study those you feel doubtful about or think that you will be benefitted if you read them. Then solve the problems.
- Write down the your mistakes in a separate book. You don't have to write the whole question and answer for all the question. Just writing the main concept behind the mistake will suffice. Also if it was a silly mistake which u made then write why it happened like read the question properly or whatever it is
- Do this for all the chapters/ topics
- Now take any 4 tests and between each test write down your mistakes like described in step 3, and reread the chapters form where you missed the questions.
- If your score is increasing its gud and if it's not its ok all u need is more practice which takes some more time so be patient take a small break and stay away from sat like for 3-4 days
- Now comeback and do all the after chapter back questions of mc Graw hill book
- Continue taking practice tests and solve chapter wise problems for the concepts you got wrong. You can use this website to do that http://www.omalleychem.info
- Exhaust your resources as much as you can until like 3-4 days before the test day. Then,
- Revise from (http://znotes.org/sat-chemistry/), reread the chapter wise notes you made on paper and reread all the questions you wrote in your notebook and do this until Thursday, then on Friday take one last test ( from Barron's preferably, so save it for this day) reread your notes and relax from the after noon or evening onwards go and watch a movie or something.
I started of by getting like 18 mistakes on each test after kind of doing until step 4 and tried so many thing before I could get down to like 3 mistakes and this only happened on my last one or two practice tests. So don’t worry
