800 w, 800 cr, 600 m?

I retook the SAT today and I feel (and hope) I got an 800 on CR. I still am not sure how I did on the math; even after studying for weeks, there were several I didn't know how to do. :( I'm probably going to get math tutoring and retake the SAT in January, but if--even after tutoring--I couldn't break 700, would Yale even look at my application if I had an 800 W, 800 CR, and 600 (or 600-range) M? I'm just kind of worried since some people have said they look at SAT/GPA first and if you don't make the "cutoff" (not expressed cutoff, but implied nonetheless), they won't even glance at your essays or EC's.

bump. i don’t know if i got an 800 cr but i think it’s possible, so i’d like to know too…cuz im still not sure how good my math is. but if you’re clearly great in english but so-so in math…will they look at your app or no?

I can’t really answer this, but I can tell you that Yale prefers higher scores in the critical reading and writing sections (in general). I think with two 800s and then a so-so score in math, you will definitely be considered. I would have a perfect GPA as well, if it wasn’t for math :expressionless: Gah! Don’t you just hate math…

Oh my goodness, I am in the opposite boat! Maths is the one section I feel mostly confident that I have done well in… writing a little less so but CR is a complete worry :frowning: and it’s not as if I ever get low scores in English! It’s just the timing/vocab issue grrr. Do you guys have any tips for getting high CR scores if I have to retake??
