Alright, I'm applying to colleges I'm a senior and I'm very smart but wasn't interested/motivated in high school by things that I'm not interested in. Does anyone know how my chances are on getting into the following schools? I have an 85 average (low, I know), a 2000 on the sat and a 30 on the act. I am auditioning for some of these programs so I will list the ones I am auditioning for and please tell if you can how much they care about gpa etc. I am also the president of the school philosophy club, have a job, and am a member of plenty of clubs and have been the lead in school drama and out of school productions. Ok, here goes

My older son went through this process three years ago. He had lower grades, with a rocky record, but his Critical Reading SAT rose to 780 (2060 total) his senior year. He was only admitted to one auditioned program, but we learned a great deal about it. Your academic record is adequate for most auditioned programs, although some emphasize the transcript more than others. It is probably a little shaky for NYU/Tisch, Fordham-Lincoln Center, and Emerson, but you would probably not be automatically disqualified academically. The most important thing to know is that many of these BFA programs have Ivy League-type acceptance rates. Some place little importance on your academic record, as long as you fulfilled requirements. When we visited Mason Gross School (Rutgers), the guide stated “we don’t care about your grades.” I heard that BU School of Drama will always consider talent and audition first, and that they have been flexible about academic criteria. You should take your inquiries to the Theater thread on CC. I found the participants there very helpful and informative. You need to get busy now, though, because you will want to begin signing up for auditions as early as possible. You should start selecting audition materials, also. I might add Temple to your list. They have a pretty good Theater BA program, and Philly has a great local theater scene. You will find much better answers on the Theater Majors page. Go there.
