I have quite a few awards and recognitions from 8th grade. Are they acceptable to put on a application?

No, do what you do in High School, middle school is a waste of time.

What awards were they? My friend got a Golden State exam award(she got High Honors) in 9th grade from a test taken in 8th, and she put it on her app. I would think that'll be okay

I think as long as it was a high school level award, you can put it on - for example, you took the AMC 12 Contest in 8th grade and qualified for the AIME seems perfectly reasonable to put on an application

I don't mean to steal this thread, but of my 8th grade awards, should I at least put my Kiwanis Citizenship Award?

wat bout an american legion award, thas pretty big stuff

if u won the national spelling/geography bee put that kind of stuff down, if it was like a small award, don't menion it

ya i won a geography bee that included 7-9 graders vut I was in 7th grade at the time.

If I remember correctly, my applications specifically said to list high school awards only. I only applied to three schools, but I would assume that's pretty standard.

I'd have to agree that if it was something big like some of these folks have said, though, go ahead and put it.

Would this be a slippery slope then? Because I went to the State Geo Bee in 6th grade... but I don't think admissions would care about that, being so long ago.

I didn't put anything about going to State twice in UIL Science during junior high...I wouldn't put Geo Bee either. That's just me, though.
