You take two advanced classes as an 8th grader, these are high school classes. Do they count on your high school gpa?

My daughter took an advanced math class in 8th grade and it was shown on her HS transcript and did count in her HS GPA.

some do... i took algebra 1 and french 1 during my 8th grade, and the grade i got was reflected on my GPA. I got a b+ in algebra 1 and that brought my gpa down to a 3.98

My 8th grade classes which were given high school credit counted for my high school GPA.

Mine didn't go on my high school transcript. Only your school can answer this question.

I vaguely remember that if she had had a bad grade (she didn't) she could have retaken the class in HS and the 8th grade class would not have appeared on the transcript. But it was 5  years ago so I may be completely imagining that.

Depends on your school district (ask someone at your school). At mine, they show up by default, but parents have the option of 'cancelling' those grades so they don't appear on the HS transcript.

Woah, good question. I've got some middle school classes on my high school transcript, and my GPA's always lower than what I get when I calculate it myself. Hmm...

Depends on the school. Our system includes high school courses taken in middle school towards the GPA. This was fine for one of my kids, not so great for the other.

Schools have different policies. I took algebra, and Spanish I. Only Spanish I counted, not algebra.

I took 3 high school courses in 8th grade and all 3 count toward my GPA and my other regular 8th grade courses count to.

I think most selective colleges will not take into account 8th grade GPAs, even if your school does. I mean, if you fail all your eighth grade classes, then you should be worried, but if your only C is in pre-algebra in 8th grade it is not that big of a deal. I doubt many even look at it.

In my school, classes that typically could be taken in high school still don't count if they are taken in middle school (in my school, most kids did Algebra 1 in 7th grade, and alg. 2 and Language year I in 8th grade). It's good, because colleges will know you took those courses, but it doesn't matter for your grade.

Depends on your school. Ask the counseling department. They know.
Yes it does in my school because we take most freshman courses in 8th grade instead of 9th and so on...
Heh my school declines to accelerate because of outside coursework. That is also another thing to ask the counselor.

It depends. I took Algebra I in eighth grade and, although it shows up on my transcript, it didn't factor into my GPA (which was good because it wasn't an honors class and would have lowered my GPA even though I got an A)

In 8th grade I took the Math A Regents exam (a New York State test), which was high school level, and it counted as the high school regents exam grade/midterm grade in my freshman math class (so I wouldn't have to take it twice). That's it.
