8th Grade SAT Score

I hear the Gruber’s math workbook really helps with that section.

I’m good at math, so I don’t really need to worry about that. I need more preparation for Reading and Writing.

kid get a life…stop worrying about the SAT as an 8th grader

Well, I’m not “worrying”. I’m just interested in this and want to prepare more. :P

just enjoy high school bro u really should be preparing for the SAT until around your sophomore year…let alone 8th grade

Yeah. I’m really excited for high school! :D

Don’t stress over prepping over the SAT’s until sophomore year. For now, build up EC’s and take as many honors courses as you can next year.

It doesn’t matter whether or not that’s a good score for an 8th grader because 8th graders don’t go to college. Just keep getting smarter and take it again in 11th grade. Then, aim for above a 2000.

Good Luck!

Relax. You’re in 8th grade. Hell, I didn’t even know what the SAT stood for when I was your age.

I have no idea what score is good for an eighth grader cuz, you know, EIGHTH GRADERS SHOULDN’T BE TAKING THE SAT!!! My god, what is this world coming to??? Go outside and play or somethings…tell your parents to get off your back man.

It’s for CTY (Center For Talented Youths) My parents want me to take this writing class, lol.

Why are you even taking the SAT’s in 8th grade? That’s ridiculous. Enjoy yourself and relax. And it’s not all that hard to get straight A’s in middle school. A LOT of kids get straight A’s in middle school and then find out it’s a little tougher in high school.

I’m taking it for CTY. It’s really easy for me to get straight A’s, and I go to a private school. I know high school will be harder.

I got 2040 in 7th grade, but I prepared a lot so I wouldn’t know. Read more and your score should definitely get higher :D

I had to do it for CTY as well. :)

Woah!!! That’s so good! My cousin got around 2100 in 8th grade. But then again, he’s way smarter than me.

It’s for CTY (and I’m a she :P)

Sorry about the gender confusion haha, but yeah you shouldn’t be worrying about SAT scores yet, just take honors classes in 9th grade (and APs if it’s an interesting class and it’s offered to freshmen) and do well, that should automatically raise your scores for the SAT.

Read a lot.

Unfortunately, I can’t take any AP’s next year. I don’t really like to read. XD (No wonder I failed the Reading section)

Hi etran,

In response to your score I would say that you will most likely improve it considerably by the time you are in high school and take it (I assume) junior year. Although the 8th grade SAT score can be a fairly reliable (I stress the “fairly”) marker for future SAT scores, it is often nothing to be feared. You are only in middle school and it is understandable to get that score (unless you’re a genius :P). Also, I know people who have taken the SAT in 8th grade as well and scored lower than that but still scored 2300+ on the real SAT. All it takes is hardwork and persistence even though it sounds cliched.

To improve your scores in the future for specific sections, I recommend brushing up on grammar rules-memorize idioms especially as they often show up on the SAT-and also annotating anything you read or interacting with the text. This way, you have a better understanding of the work and this can help on CR with purpose questions and the intention of the author questions.

P.S. I only scored a 1540 on the SAT in the eighth grade but scored 2320 this year as a junior (now rising senior).

Thank you ModelT!!! You give me confidence. :stuck_out_tongue: I think that as long as I study hard and get my act together, I should do fine.
