9/11

So what are you gonna do today on the 7th anniversary? Just doing the usual stuff?

Ah, I didn't even realize that it was the eleventh today.

Yah, today will be like any other for me...

cap osama in the face.

Flag pin to school, prayer/moment of silence in school, writing prime article about the anniversary for school newspaper

moment of silence..

In one of my classes we had a moment of silence, the teacher shared the newspaper he saved from the Sept 12, 2001, and we watched a small video he made in memorial the year afterward.

He was the only teacher to reconize it.

I really wish i had made special plans for the day, but I didn't. :(

15 second moment of silence but since no one in our school cares it was like 5 seconds of silence.

Our school had a pathetic like 2 second moment of silence. Principal came over the intercom and was like "speechy stuff...... Okay let's have a moment of silence to commemorate... etc etc" And about 1 second later he's like, "Okay, thanks."
It was awful.

minute of silence, flags in the main courtyard.

Ah, a few of my teachers gave talks today and we had this uber-long prayer thing at the beginning (5 minutes omg!), and we had to stand for the whole thing. ;/ (not that it wasn't really expected, but we're a lazy bunch, and it was a boring speech)

We went outside and held a 20 min memorial.

We had a moment of silence followed by taps played over the PA.

We had a moment of silence...well two actually. the person who does the announcements said a little something. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, this is the first sept 11th that i've been in the U.S. after the attacks.

We had a special prayer, then watched a memorial video on it during 1st period. Mass was held during lunch.

My government teacher wrote it in his "This Day in History" thing on the board, but he never talked about it. Other than that, there was nothing.

eff world trade, it just leads to exploitation. -_=

moment of silence, then went straight back to our lit presentations.

It also leads to all forms of modern technology existing.

Good luck building a computer with raw materials only found in Kansas.

My girlfriend and I were in HS during 9/11, and yesterday she watched a really good documentary on the History Channel about it. As background, she's from LA and I'm from southeastern PA where a number of people worked in the WTC complex. The difference in the news coverage for what she saw to what I saw in the weeks following the event is amazing, including the response by our schools and those sorts of things. She had never seen the footage from the ground as the towers fell, the footage of everybody walking on highways and bridges to get out of Manhattan, and the reactions of all the people on the ground. She had never seen footage of the firefighters running into the towers, and those staying around even after the first tower had fell even though they certainly knew what was going to happen to them. It's really a shame how 9/11 has turned into such a political issue instead of an important day of rememberance for what happened to our country that day.

A "real" american wouldn't give a damn, because caring is a weakness.

We had the usual moment of silence with a video of some images from that day. Then, in my U.S. history class, my teacher's friend came in and shared her experience about dropping off her best frind at the airport that day and then later finding out that it was the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. Apparently she contributed to that one movie about 9/11 (I forget what it's called.) It was kinda depressing. Other than that, no other teacher even mentioned it.
