So in the first schedule, I start at 9am (T/R)/10am (M/W/F), but I finish by 2 on Tuesday, by noon on Thursday, and by 1, most weeks (the academic/career success recitation is only 6 times a semester) on Friday. I also have an awesome break from 12-4:30 on Monday and Wednesday.

On the second schedule, however I start at...11 am. Very enticing. But, I finish by 5 (instead of 2) on Tuesday, by 2 (instead of noon) on Thursday, and by 4 (instead of 1), most weeks on Friday. The break on Monday and Wednesday is from 12-3, an hour and a half shorter than Schedule 1.

So what's more important? More time to sleep in the morning or more free time during the day? I don't want to miss out when people are having fun late but I have to worry about having class early the next morning. If I took the 9 ams though, considering I am done with classes so early, couldn't I just take a nap after?

What time are you waking up usually in the summer? It really depends on you. Personally, I am a really late riser and prefer all my classes to be 12 p.m. or later.

It depends on your preferences. I like to get my classes out of the way in the mornings and have afternoons free. I also have a part time job and I will be starting research in a lab in the fall- think about what you are planning on taking part in and plan accordingly.

When do you normally feel most alert and awake, i.e. are you a morning or a night person? For me, having the Business Calc class in the middle of the afternoon would be a disaster, but I know plenty of people who wouldn’t be able to handle that first thing in the morning.

I’m not in college yet but from looking at this forum and my feelings I would say take the earlier schedule. You really wouldn’t need to get up until 8 probably later especially if you live on campus. If you finish that early you can get all of your work done for classes and then go to parties after or go to a job or an internship or sports or clubs. Thats just my opinion though. If you really hate getting up, college is probably the only time you’ll be able to dictate your schedule so heavily so now would be the time to have days that start late

When I first started college I was very excited for big breaks in the middle of the day. I quickly learned, however, that they are actually more of a nuisance than a blessing. You have to be very strict on yourself in how you spend that time and going back to your room for an afternoon nap or a tv break or something can result in you skipping the next class because that bed is just so much more comfortable than a classroom desk and a lecturing teacher. I, therefore, would opt for the later schedule because it still allows for a nice lunch break, doesn’t end too late (my days on mon and tue last semester went from 5:15 am to 9 pm (don’t take night classes unless you have to!) and it was miserable) and you get to sleep in until like 10:40.

But no matter what you pick, remember it’s only for a semester and if you don’t like your schedule you have 7 more semesters to pick a different one.

Personally, I would go with schedule two because I don’t mind getting out really late. I find that I am much more productive, homework-wise, in the morning, so I like to be able to get up early, work on homework and then go to class later in the day.

I would go with schedule 2, personally, because I just don’t function well in the morning. But really, this all depends on you- are you someone who pops out of bed first thing in the morning, bright eyed and ready to learn? Or do you have to drag yourself out five minutes before you have to leave for class? Without knowing that, this isn’t really something we can help you with.

Having a longer break is not a positive for me. Everyone i know hates those long 3,4,5 hour breaks and it’s definitely hard if you can’t manage that time in between well! I’d pick schedule 2; finishing at 5,2, and 4 is not that bad at all and you get to sleep in longer.
